Halpatiokee Park
Stuart, FL
This project, located on the South Fork of the St. Lucie River, was the conversion of a 182-acre forest into a full operational Regional Park. The site required protection and preservation of sensitive upland and wetland systems. Almost one-half the site remained passive, protected parkland. Due to the location of the site, heavy emphasis was placed on the design and construction of both underground utilities and roadwork. The park included 3 new baseball fields, 5 soccer sports fields, 10 tennis courts, indoor roller hockey, and a “tot” playground. Also constructed were 3 concession stands, a maintenance building, 8 picnic shelters, batting cages and a nature walkway, exotic plants, removal and relocation of existing trees and 230k cubic yards of imported fill.
