AMTRAK AUTO TRAIN STATION
Sanford, FL
The Collage Companies constructed the Amtrak Auto Train southern terminus in Sanford, Florida. The station opened in late 2010 with $10.5 million in Recovery Act funding and replaced temporary facilities that had been in place since the destruction caused by the 2005 hurricanes. A signature feature of the project is a soaring, gently curving wall of glass which allows natural light to flood the interior.
The new structure provides Auto Train passengers with a more comfortable waiting area and allows for faster, more efficient boarding operations. The Sanford station is conveniently located with easy driving access to many popular central and coastal Florida locations, including Orlando, Walt Disney World, Daytona Beach and Cape Canaveral. The Auto Train transports passengers and their vehicles nonstop from the Washington, DC area to sunny Florida, just outside of Orlando.
