The University of Central Florida project involved the restoration of the old Carey Hand Funeral Home on 36 West Pine Street, Downtown Orlando that was built in 1919 and converted into an academic center. The work consisted of exterior as well as interior renovation of 21,000 sq. ft. on three stories and a Mezzanine. The building has a solid brick wall exterior and metal stud framing / drywall interior walls. There was a significant amount of finish carpentry, a sprinkler system was added to the entire building, and a new elevator was installed. The finished building has state of the art Computer Facilities, and Amphitheater, Classrooms, Administrative Offices and a Library. This restoration was made more difficult due to the tight sight constraints of its downtown location.
