From October 23-25, 2023, the spotlight shone brightly on this method at the Florida Region Design-Build Conference, held at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, FL. This event wasn’t just another conference; it was a congregation of the finest minds, innovators, and leaders in the design-build industry. Founded in 1993, the Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) has been a steadfast advocate for refining and championing the design-build process. And while DBIA might not have invented the concept, they’ve undoubtedly played an instrumental role in its popularization and perfection. Today, thanks to these efforts, DBIA stands as the unequivocal authority on “Design-Build Done Right®”.  Enter Collage a trailblazing entity in the design-build landscape. Under the visionary leadership of founder Brian Walsh, Collage has not only embraced the Design Build method but has also been instrumental in its advancement. Mr. Walsh’s resume is a testament to his commitment and expertise in the industry. From his early certification as a general contractor in 1981 to his recognition as a charter member of DBIA Designated Professionals, Brian’s dedication to the industry is both profound and influential.

At the 2023 Florida Region Design-Build Conference, themed “Building Trust, Building Success”, Brian Walsh moderated a panel of experts. The panel delved into the nuances of the design-build process, emphasizing the importance of trust in fostering collaboration and innovation. As part of the esteemed panel Robert Gilbert, Collage’s Chief Operating Officer, shared invaluable insights, cementing Collage’s position as an industry thought leader. At the awards ceremony, projects exemplifying the essence of the design-build method were celebrated.

Collage was honored to receive an “Award of Merit” for our work on the St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD) Apopka Service Center project, underscoring our commitment to innovation and our pivotal role in advancing the design-build approach. The SJRWMD Apopka Service Center is a testament to Collage’s expertise in design and construction. The project attained the esteemed Florida Green Building Gold Level status, a recognition that underscores Collage’s commitment to quality and innovation. The Apopka Service Center stands as a remarkable example of precision and functionality, featuring energy-efficient elements and carefully chosen materials. With a focus on resource conservation, the center showcases Collage’s dedication to responsible construction practices. The project not only sets a new standard for sustainable building but also highlights Collage’s unwavering pursuit of excellence in every aspect of their work.
