Gateway Church of Christ – A Heart to Serve
Gateway Church of Christ, located in Pensacola, Florida is a large-scale renovation and design-build project that The College Companies completed in affiliation with BGW Architects, a national design-build church firm. The structure is made of solid, tilt-up concrete walls, impact-resistant glazing, and a fully loaded commercial kitchen for their volunteers who cook regularly for large gatherings of people.
For many years to come, this facility will be a true expression of Gateway’s heart to serve the people of Pensacola and will be an open door for all people to come and connect and worship in a vibrant and inviting space. Through the design-build process, Collage was able to tailor the design and construct a facility to meet all the programmatic needs, while staying within their debt-free budget.
Gateway Church, a thriving multi-generational church community in Pensacola Florida received a unique offer from the local hospital system to purchase their many years-old building and property, which they owned outright, and to build a new campus for their congregation from ‘scratch’. Enter the Collage and BGW Architects design-build team, and a very special facility was designed. Intended to balance the many aspects of this locally rooted ministry, the church desired to have worship and classroom spaces for all ages, as well as an indoor playground to share with the local community, and a large gymnasium to host events for the homeless, and even a shelter during hurricanes.
