Amtrak Station Renovation wins Historic Preservation Award
During the ribbon cutting of the Orlando Amtrak Station, The City of Orlando presented The Collage Companies with Historic Preservation Award for Outstanding Commercial Project.
The 1926 building, designed by M.A. Griffith and W.T. Hadlow for the Atlantic Coastline Railroad, exemplified Spanish Mission Revival Style architecture but became dingy over time. The stucco walls exhibited mold and cracks, and the roof and windows leaked. The station also needed ADA upgrades. With a grant from the State of Florida, the City of Orlando launched a $2.1 million exterior renovation project, and FDOT selected The Collage Companies as General Contractor. The project included restoration of the original doors and windows, replacement and relocation of the HVAC system, a wheelchair ramp, and landscaping and other site improvements.
